She uses that tone in the right places as well. There’s singers like Christina Aguilera, and it’s nice when Christina doesn’t wail. I can tell she loves using that part of her voice, but she’s not overusing it which is nice. Leaves people wanting more’ - Simon Webbe from Blue- ELLIE HOLLAND Ellie Holland is a 23-year-old singer songwriter from Surrey with a fantastic voice and great stage presence and it was down to her to start the proceedings on the night. She gripped the audience from the start with her rocked up soul sound and vocal range and the standard was set for the rest of the acts to follow. Even the sound engineer couldn’t believe how powerful Ellie’s voice was as he continually turned her levels down to accommodate her. Tracks such as ‘Good Gone’ went down really well with the audience and Ellie’s overall performance definitely won her some new supporters as she delivers her tracks with such feeling and soul. I went into the tent and saw a very promising young female soloist with some good vocals and good sounds. The music reminds me of early/mid 90’s funk/soul group Brand New Heavies. It was good for the 10 minutes I saw, wish I was there from the beginning!
