line.</div> <div class="va-bodytext" id="va-bodytext"><br /> Earlier this month, Teressa Edwards, wife of Sunderland AFC winger Carlos, revealed she is recording her own album.<br /> <br /> And now it seems the R&B singer is preparing to outdo David Beckham's wife by launching her own clothing line later this year. <br /> <br /> Talking exclusively to the Echo, Trinidad-born Teressa said she wants to give women designer fashion at high street prices.<br /> <br /> The 26-year-old, who, like Posh, juggles being a mum with her career, said: "My inspiration for the range is simply sexy, chic while still being comfortable so I'm aiming to design a range that will portray this.<br /> <br /> "It will mainly be female clothing aimed at every woman out there who wants the fashion without the high price tags but still look high profile.<br /> <br /> "Not everyone has the bucks to spend on designers."<br /> <br /> Teressa, who lives near London, has also rubbished claims that Wags don't want It's beautiful and everyone is so receptive.<br /> <br /> "Secondly, when Carlos and I got married I was not marrying his career or status, I was marrying the individual. singer, is a big hit off the park having just signed a new album deal.<br /> <br /> Trinidad-born Teressa first followed in the footsteps of Queen of Wags Victoria Beckham three years ago.<br /> <br /> She launched her debut album while Carlos, 28, played for Wrexham, but unlike Posh Spice, Teressa's musical career looks set to soar.<br /> <br /> The 26-year-old caught the eye of record bosses after wowing the crowd at a Wrexham match against Sheffield Wednesday with her rendition of Pointer Sisters' I'm So Excited.<br /> <br /> And now the still unsigned soul star is ready to release her second album, Days Ahead, which has already received critical acclaim for its blend of soul, RnB and gospel.<br /> <br /> In April, Teressa shared her seductive sounds when she performed at the Love Music Hate Racism event at Kent in a bid to help stamp out racism.<br /> She launched her singing career at the age of 16 after singing with her gospel choir in her Caribbean homeland.<br /> <br /> By the age of 16 she was touring the Caribbean islands as part of the gospel choir, developing her voice along the way. After sufferening the heartache of the loss of her mother Teressa decided to follow her dream in becoming an internationally known soul and R&B singer, she relocated to the UK and set about trying to achieve her musical goals. Days Ahead is the second full-length release and it should help raise the profile of this extradionairy artist.</p> <p>The album opens with the brilliant No More, a wonderfully laidback introduction to Teressa's unique talent. The instrumentation is subtle yet full of groove, whilst the vocals are an intoxicating mixture of soulful croon and spoken word, Teressa takes the opportunity to reveal who she is, where she's from and some of the pain she's suffered whilst simultaneously seducing the listener with her gorgeous and passionate vocal abilities.</p> <p>Sun Is Gonna Shine takes the opening tracks heartache and offers up salvation in the shape of an upbeat infectious jazzy number that speaks of triumph over tragedy, whilst the instrumentation creates a bouncy, contagious summery groove that's just perfect for those hot sweaty R&B club dancefloors.</p> <p>The album continues with a mix of smooth seductive love songs such as the delicate I Love You and the sultry piano led Making Love. The likes of Work It Out adds a hip-hop influence to the mix with a male rap vocal adding to the vibe, whilst harmonised vocals on the likes of A Girl Like Me and the final track Days Ahead nod at Teressa's gsopel background. She seems to appreciate every second of it, and seems really grounded. It must have been daunting for her at first. The first pictures we saw of her were as a 16-year-old schoolgirl. Poland are bottom of their group onthe field andoff it. So this group belongs to Germany, who ooze class in midfield. Simone Lambe, above, the 27-year-old girlfriend of the Chelsea-bound German star Michael Ballack, is the pick of the bunch. Happy to play in the background, she nonetheless has a distinctive wardrobe -busty Bavarian blouse offset by rib-crunching girdles - and is set to spark Germany's bid for glory. </p> <p>Group B </p> <p>The WAG "group of death". England possess serious game but they face stiff challenges. Trinidad & Tobago's outfit contains the inimitable Teressa Edwards, wife of the Luton midfielder Carlos, who has aspirations to a pop career. And Sweden's team, above, could cause an upset - most notably in the shape of the country's most famous WAG, Helena Segur, and the catwalk model Anine Bing. But the spoils from Group B are heading to South America. Paraguay's blonde bombshell, Giselle Santa Cruz, who is married to the striker, Roque Santa Cruz, has too much class. </p> <p>Group C </p> <p>There's plenty of peripheral action in Group C, with solid offerings from the Ivory Coast and Serbia and Montenegro, and predictably dippy fare from the Argentinians. But, with Sylvie Francoise van der Vaart-Meis, above, the wife of the Holland star Rafael van der Vaart in the group, the Dutch should easily progress to the knockout stages. Van der Vaart-Meis, whose fine bone structure is offset by a tan so deep and luminous she is forbidden to walk under major flight paths, is, like many WAGs, a model and actress. Unlike many WAGs, though, an entire nation tuned in to watch her wedding. </p> <p>Group D </p> <p>The Iranian WAGs have had a tricky build-up to the World Cup, when it was re-vealed that Iran's German-based superstar Mehdi Mahdavikia has two wives - one in Iran and one in Germany. Fortunately for the rest of the teams in this tough group, neither of them was up to much. Portugal has made a strong showing so far, and Luis Figo's better half, Helen Sveden, above, will only get better with more games. <p align="center"><u><strong><font face="Verdana" size="2">Caribbean Queen.</font></strong></u></p> <p align="left"><strong><font face="Verdana" size="2">By Alun Prichard - Daily Post.</font></strong><font face="Verdana" size="2"><br /> 27-Jan-2004 - Alun Prichard meets one footballer's wife determined to get her share of the limelight.<br /> IT'S a scenario that would challenge even the script writers of Footballers' Wives, a player's spouse caught up in a gangster shoot-out while on an international singing tour.<br /> And it would have had Victoria Beckham scrambling for headlines, milking the drama for every possible column inch of the red top tabloids.<br /> But it really did happen to Trinidadian Teressa Edwards, the unflappable wife of Wrexham fans' favourite Carlos Edwards, while touring the Caribbean with her church choir.<br /> Small wonder then that she was undeterred by the chorus of chanting and booing that greeted her when she walked out onto Wrexham's Racecourse ground to entertain her husband's fans.<br /> "The worst place to sing was Jamaica, because we were in the heart of the gangster area and every five minutes we'd hear a gunshot go off. But we got through, and if you can get through that you can get through anything," she says philosophically.<br /> This was certainly true when she strode onto the pitch to sing at half time in the Wrexham versus Sheffield Wednesday match to a chorus of boos from the Yorkshire contingent among the 8,000 crowd.<br /> As the wife of one of Wrexham's star players the visiting fans tried to rattle her. Undeterred, she soon turned them around, leaving the pitch to a standing ovation from both sets of fans.<br /> Teressa, 23, and Carlos moved to Wrexham from Trinidad, an island paradise closer to Venezuela than other Caribbean islands, three years ago when Carlos' talent was spotted as he played for the Trinidadian Defence Force Team during his national service.<br /> "I was dead excited for him," Teressa recalls of the moment he was asked to come to Wrexham. "His parents weren't happy that he wanted to do that as a profession with them being religious people. For Seventh Day Adventists like most people back home, having games on the Sabbath is a no no."<br /> But the couple decided to take the plunge and move to North East Wales. "When people used to talk about England we automatically thought London, and we knew about Liverpool and Manchester from the football, then we heard about Wrexham and Wales... OK, where is that ?"<br /> "The hardest thing to adjust to here is the climate. I adjusted to everything else quickly but I'm never going to get completely used to the climate. I came up here for the first time in the middle of summer and I was cold then, and I was thinking, 'why is this place so cold?' Everybody was in shorts and I had a jacket on and thought 'these people are crazy'."<br /> She admits that when the temperatures drop she doesn't come to watch Carlos, preferring to stay at home with their two-year-old son Tristan, who was born in Chester.<br /> Her strong voice has already attracted record producers and she has been juggling looking after Tristan and her job as a sales assistant in Wrexham, with recording self-penned material for a single due for release in February.<br /> She says she owes her talent to the time she spent in the gospel choir at home. "They say that the best vocal training you can get is gospel because you learn how to control your voice and how to manipulate it," she says, twiddling her braids almost shyly.<br /> It is no coincidence that the likes of Whitney Houston started out in a gospel choir. "If I had to categorize my music I'd say probably it's around Whitney Houston and Aretha Franklin," she says.<br /> Although her voice is already making waves she is very aware that the British music charts are dominated by the likes of Pop Idol winners. "The industry now just want an image instead of a proper voice like..." she pauses, and with a mischievous smile whispers a little aside referring to that other singing footballer's wife, "... like Victoria Beckham. There's no voice there, they probably have the looks, go shake their bun and there you have a big hit. What I'm hoping is that soon voices will come back in." If they do it will be no surprise if they turn to this softly spoken taxi driver's daughter from the Caribbean who laughs as easily as her international footballer husband passes the ball.</font></p>

Football Wife Follows Becham

While some of the songs are a little typical of the current crop of r’n’b singers around at the moment, Teressa’s stunning voice is enough to make this album stand out.
